Make sure you go over all the wolf breeds so you don't confuse them with one another. It would be greatly appreciated if you got your stats right by knowing what kind of wolf you're making. Don't worry, I'll correct you if you're wrong. Mixed breeds are indeed acceptable.
-------------------------------
Grey wolf
The coloration of the fur can range from white to cream, all shades of brown, yellow, red, gray all the way to dark black. They are not usually one solid color, unless they are pure white, or pure black.
The eyes may range from brown to yellow, gold, green, a slight silvery color and sometimes almost black. However, for this site other colours such as violet/purple, blue, red and anything you can think of will be accepted.
They are normally 2-3 feet at the shoulder, though they may be slightly above or under. On average they weigh from 50-150 lbs, but not much more, or much less unless they are quite unhealthy. (famine, illness, obesity). Paws are about 3-4 inches in diameter, depending on size of wolf.
Gray wolves live in tight-knit family groups called packs. There is one dominant female, and one dominant male (alpha male and female). There are two wolves right underneath them in the hierarchy, called the beta wolves, who will frequently challenge the alphas. All packs have a hierarchy, no wolf is quite as equal as another. (Check the Ranks to see how it works around here).

Red Wolf (Swamp Wolf)
Though they descended from the Gray Wolf, most Red wolves tend to range from brown to rust, red, white and yellow, often a mixture of several colors. The eyes of the red wolf vary the same as the gray wolf.
Red wolves are normally 1.5 - 2.5 feet at the shoulder. They have much longer, more slender snouts than the gray wolf, and also have much taller, larger ears. Because they are a mixture of the gray wolf and the coyote, they often can be mistaken for a coyote, but there are always differences to be spotted. In weight, these wolves range from 40-70 lbs, though depending on their size, they may weigh near the same as a small gray wolf.
Red wolves have all of the same habits as a gray wolf.

Texas Red Wolf
Florida Red Wolf
Mississippi Valley Red Wolf
Ethiopian Wolf
Ethiopian wolves have coats ranging in color from red, brown, to reddish-brown and white. The coat is usually a combination of these. They have bushy tails, pointy ears, a slender snout and long legs. The average weight of an Ethiopian wolf ranges from 24-42 lbs. They are very much like a coyote in appearance, having nearly the same height, weight and appearance.
They live in very hot places, usually about 3000m above sea level. They prefer areas with very little undergrowth, and not very high either (10" is prefered, no higher).
Ethiopian wolves live in small pack situations (3-13 wolves), patrolling borders at dawn, midday and evening together, and sleeping together at night. Only nursing females and pups sleep in dens, the rest sleep outside. They differ from Gray and Red wolves in that they hunt alone, mostly foraging for rodents, which make up 90% of their diet.
Fantasy Breeds
Blood Wolf - Much smaller than normal wolves, 1 - 2 feet at the shoulder, 80-115 lbs as a maximum. Their fur colour is commonly seen as blood red or other vivid colours, though it may be just like any other wolf (browns, grays, whites, blacks, etc). They are known for their thirst for blood, aggressive, snappy persona, and mutations: horns, spikes, retractable claws, sabre-like fangs, etc. A majority reside within the dark packs, because of their nasty hereditary nature.
Hell Wolf - Looks like the gray wolf in many ways, but is more prone to bodily deformities (a couple extra teeth, crooked body parts, unnaturally colored eyes, etc). Also, their temperment is highly aggressive, protective and they often have a terrible temper. Because of their temperment they can often be found in the lone lands, and occassionally in dark packs. Many believe that the souls of these wolves were created and sent to life straight from hell, due to the demonic noises they make and awful, ear-shattering shrieks.
Lunar Wolf - Quite similar to the albino wolf, it has traits typically found in the gray wolf, but its skin is pure white and fur colour is white or very light gray or reddish-orange. It's eyes are typically a light blue, green or violet, and they tend to radiate with a moon-like glow. Has abnormally long fangs. Is usually more relaxed than other wolves, but this is not always the case. Enjoys being under the light of the moon, usually preferring the cool night when the moon is full and may stay up late just to watch the stars. They do not necessarily enjoy the darkness though. Normally of a neutral or pure alignment.
Albino Wolf - The albino is not a breed of wolf, but rather a condition in any breed type. It is any wolf that is born without the normal colour pigmentations. Has mostly white or very pale shades of gray or reddish-orange fur. Skin color is always pure white. Eyes are white, or very pale amber or blue. The ears are nearly translucent, unless thick fur covers them. The albino has no typical alignment, for that depends solely on their own temperment.
Illyrian (nicknamed silver-eyed witch) - This breed has usually three different types of breed (subspecies) within each Groshier wolf which are:
Wind breed- Built for speed. Lacks strength; extremly weak physically
Earth breed- Built for strength. Lacks speed and is extremly slow
Pure breed - Allows the first two to combine, which creates Illyrian to overcome the weaknesses of both Wind and Earth breeds (No, that doesn't mean they are overly powerful)
Illyrian's personalities are all unique; there is no standard temperment for the breed. The females range from 3-4 ft. in height, and are 100 lbs even. Females are always smaller than the males. They bear a marking upon either the left or right eye. Their fur colour is usually two-toned, meaning the frame is any colour but they always have black ears, black-tipped tails and legs. The black markings upon the back differs with the individual wolf; some are straight lines across, others have just a plain black moon shape. Eye colour is always a bright, startling silver, but when angered or in heat, the eyes change colour, to match the primary colour of the coat and it is always metallic. Their tails are fox-like. The only family that holds the blood of the Illyrian wolf in their veins is the Groshier family line; they are a rare breed. (This is LazySweet's creation, so please talk to her before making a wolf of this breed; if you don't ask first, you will be asked to change it)
Fire Wolf - Wolves of the Fire breed are considered tempermental and ferocious, with their attitudes being, of course, fiery. However, vicious as they may be, there is always that warm little spot in their hearts for those special to them, and they are endlessly protective of what is theirs. They are typically built heavier than most other breeds, and may be fairly tall. Their fur colours normally range from fiery reds to shades of rust and brown, and may be streaked through with black or gold. The eyes are normally any variety of red, amber or golden, though in some rare cases the iris may be black and mottled with amber.
Water Wolf - Wolves of the Water breed are considered peaceful, but they are always in a hurry to get things done. These wolves can be kind and merciful, but are unforgiving when faced with enemies. Wolves of this breed have a spirit that is determined and unbreakable, and if their path is blocked, they create a new one for themselves. Water wolves are usually long-bodied and very strong, able to run and swim quickly. Their pelt colours are commonly seen as any type of slate or stony gray, and they may be streaked or marked by varying shades of blue and white. The eyes are usually gray, blue or white.
Earth Wolf - Often viewed as aloof, these wolves have a profound ability to overcome any emotional boundaries, and are very strong-willed, though they tend to be peaceful, or in the least, blissfully ignorant. They tend to be built quite short and small, as though to be closer to the Earth itself; being also very muscular with a lower center of gravity, this can make them very powerful. Earth wolf has a wide variety of coat colours, being anything from dark, muddy browns to rust, cinammon and dusty blonde colours. They may also come in any shade of gray or even creamy whites. However, these wolves are never one solid colour; they are always streaked through with other colours to give them a well-camaflouged, earthen apperance, and are often marked with dark, earthy greens especially around the face and scruff. The eyes normally range from dark brown to emerald, though amber or even golden eyes have sometimes been seen in these wolves.
Wind Wolf - The Wind wolves are hardy, unpredictable and unyielding; they can be as commanding as a whirling hurricane, and they can be as soft as a summer breeze. These wolves are extremely lightly built, so that they are extremely agile and fleet of foot. Once they're on the run, you could never hope to catch one of these wolves. Their coat colours come mostly in shades of white and gray, and occassionally black, but are rarely streaked with anything different. They may be solidly shaded or streaked through, but they do not come in any colours. The eyes, however, may range of any shade from black to white, and may exhibit striking colours as well, like torquoise, green, blue or yellow.
Shadow wolf - Wolves of the Shadow breed are quiet and secretive, and rarely build trust in anyone else. They like to slink around unseen in the night, and may be very difficult themselves to trust. The typically linger on the outskirts of the dark packs, and rarely anywhere else. Shadow wolves may have all the same traits as a gray wolf, or even the red wolf, including their coat colours and build, but they tend to blend more easily with the shadows; thus, they will normally have darker pelts than other wolves, usually consisting of cloudy grays, chocolate browns and blacks, though this is not always the case. The eyes may range at any colour, but often tend to be brown, black, gray, blue or violet.
Poison Wolf - Wolves of the Poison breed are considered to be tricky, sly and often twisted. Some believe this is because of the power they wield, which is solely to make others crumble and die at their will. They are typically built at an average height, though are more lean and graceful than most wolves. Because of their venomous abilities, they have a rather vicious look to them; they are often found with spikes, hooked claws or snake-like fangs through which they inject their poison, though there are other means by which they can do this as well, including through tail-end stingers or horns. These wolves tend to come in any coat colour, sometimes streaked through with different shades of violet and jade. The eyes are always deep but vivid shades of purple or green.
Solar Wolf - The Solar wolves are normally considered happy and outgoing, and it is rare to see them frown. However, they are very sensitive, and it is not difficult to hurt their feelings. They are very compassionate and rarely violent. These wolves come in many different shapes and sizes, and do not have any bulid specific to their breeding. However, they almost always come in shades of white, cream, wheat, gold and sandy blondes. They are often streaked with multiple sun colours. Their eyes tend to be quite light as well, often giving off a sunny glow. They are commonly seen out in the day, and are a rarity at night.
Healing Wolf - The most peaceful of all wolves, the Healing wolf cares only for the well-being of every other creature out there. It does not cause harm on anyone, and it does not hunt; thus, it depends greatly upon others and cannot defend itself or survive alone. To bring harm upon another wolf, even in self-defense, would cause the Healer's power to disappear and reverse itself. This is extremely rare, but if it does happen, the Healer will go on a blood-thirsty rampage until it dies. These wolves may come in any coat colour and may have any hue in eye colour. They are often small and weak, though are extremely fleet-footed, enabling to come to the aid of injured animals as quickly as possible.
