The Weather
-------------------------------
Winter is upon us, and the days have turned cold and short. The storms show no mercy for our well-being. Everybody must do their share to ensure the survival of the pack, for food is not in abundance. Laziness cannot be tolerated, or it will spell doom for the pack.

Mid-Winter
Pure Pack:
Neutral Pack:
Vari Udu: Most of the territory is snowed over, and many water sources frozen. The River of Illusion is always moving, and tends to avoid freezing in this way. The bog is icy and cold, but not frozen through, making it more dangerous than on a regular basis. The mud keeps the water from freezing entirely, turning the marshes into a frigid death trap. The surface of Blackwater Lake is frozen solid, offering a rare occassion for mischevious play, though it is at the discretion of the individual as to how safe it is. Prey is at a low throughout most of the territory, except in the Woods of Sorrow, where many deer travel to feed on the plentiful bark of the endless trees.
Aging
One moon is equal to one month. The reason for this is that the moon starts as just a sliver at the beginning of the 30-day period (New Moon) and then grows (First Quarter) until it is full (Full Moon), then shrinks back down again (Second Quarter) until it disappears. The cycle happens all in one month's time (30 days, though it may not necessarily start on the first day of the month). Humans have no more use for this system, as we have calenders and clocks to tell us time and date more precisely. But, because wolves do not have clocks/calenders, they count time by the moon (well... in the fantasy world at least, real wolves don't pay too much attention).
There is no real aging system here, but this is a general outline of what your wolf will be experiencing as it ages. Your wolf MUST age, it may not stay young and healthy forever, nor may it live forever. A good system to go by is 6 months (real time) = 1 year roleplay time.
Newborn - helpless, blind, deaf and very little use of the nose.
10 days - moves a bit, but is still weak and helpless, and the eyes will begin to open, as will the ears.
2 weeks - more movement can be seen.
4 weeks - have begun exploring surroundings in the den, trying to walk.
6 weeks - mother introduces meat, and begins to wean the pups.
8 weeks - by now pups are fully weaned and exploring the outside. From now on until six months of age is a vital learning point in all young wolves. They learn the basics of everything, and pack heirarchy.
6 months - they have watched and learned; now it is time to start hunting, fighting and helping out with grown-up duties.
12 moons - one year - still young and not fully mature, or fully grown, but most have hit sexual maturity.
24 moons - two years - young, full-grown, may or may not be fully mature.
36 moons - three years - full grown and fully mature.
48 moons - four years - Strong and healthy, still young, coming into his/her prime.
60 moons - five years - Into his/her prime and doing well, strong and healthy.
72 moons - six years - Still in his/her prime.
84 moons - seven years - Still doing well, but leaving the prime years and beginning to age.
96 moons - eight years - Has left his/her prime years and is beginning to wear down.
108 moons - nine years - Still doing well, and is either wearing down more and aging faster or still good to carry out his/her duties.
120 moons - ten years - still healthy enough to be alive, but is getting older and may have stiff joints as well as a lower immune system. Not all wolves age the same, and may still be good to go.
132 moons - eleven years - getting old, not likely in good working condition; may be getting sickly, stiff jointed, or even dying at this point. It all depends on the wolf.
144 moons - twelve years - very old, stiff jointed, may be sickly, may be dying. No longer able to carry out regular duties.
156 moons - thirteen years - getting very old, sickly and stiff jointed. Most likely dying. Practically useless.
168 moons - fourteen years - dead/dying or very old, crippled and sickly. Useless.
Wolves never live much older than fourteen years, if they're even lucky enough to reach that age. You may go a couple moons over, but after that your wolf must die, as immortal wolves will not be tolerated.
